Alkaline earth metals are found in group two, period four. The elements that are considered alkine earth metals are Beryllium, Magnesium, Calcium, strontium, Barium, and Radium. These elements are all solids. Some physical properties are that they have strong metallic bonding, they give off odor, and they have high melting points. Some cool chemical properties were that when magnesium fires start, they can't be extinguished by Carbon Dioxide. Hot metals have strong reducing agents. They also become electropositive. Some interesting facts is that calcium is the 5th most abundant element in the Earth's crust. They cannot be found free in nature. Finally all these elements can be found in the Earth's crust. Two common uses for these elements is that calcium is used and found in bones. Barium is used to identify bones in x-rays.
